Continuing our Sierra Leone partnership and support; you can help.
In 2019, TRIMEDX Foundation made a trip to Sierra Leone in partnership with Healey International Relief Foundation. Led by our own BMET Mission Specialist and Sierra Leone native, Moses Baryoh, a team of three biomedical engineers traveled throughout the country accomplishing 10 facility visits consisting of repair and assessments of non-working equipment and an inventory of all working equipment.
A total of 334 pieces of equipment were inventoried, 140 assessed or repaired and 40 identified for follow-up. And then, COVID-19 postponed international travel.
During the pandemic, the TRIMEDX Foundation has been given the opportunity to support mission partners in new and meaningful ways. One of those ways is supporting the 10 facilities in Sierra Leone by partnering with the Christian Health Association of Sierra Leone, Healy International Relief Foundation and Supplies Over Seas to pack and ship a 40-foot container filled with medical equipment and supplies. TRIMEDX Foundation made a financial contribution in addition to 80 pieces of medical and test equipment to be included, among others, in the container.
These mission sites are in need of extra help, and we are our expanding our outreach. In partnership with Charis, we are supporting them by hosting a drive for rain ponchos and first aid kits.
The climate in Sierra Leone is tropical and humid all year long. The rainy season is May through November, and rainfall can be torrential. Annual rainfall can reach up to 120 inches per year. Ponchos are a significant but scarce commodity.
A special Amazon wish list has been created for donors to purchase ponchos and first aid kits for direct shipment.
As soon as it is safe to travel, we will welcome the opportunity to visit our partners and friends in Sierra Leone again. Facility managers are already asking, “When will the maintenance team visit us?”
Thanks to the generosity of so many, TRIMEDX Foundation continues to make a global impact by raising the standard of health care for communities in need. TRIMEDX Foundation is a ministry committed to sharing knowledge, inspiring independence and improving health care by meeting the unique needs of the communities we serve.
