Board Spotlight: Board Chairman Tim McGeath

Tim McGeath joined Keith Baird (pictured below in a blue TRIMEDX Foundation shirt) and Josetta Caudill on their February 2024 volunteer trip to CURE Zambia. The goal was to provide CURE Zambia’s healthcare facility with health administration organization and biomedical device repair to support the hospital’s quality of care. McGeath, who has served on the board since 2006, wanted to join the trip to express appreciation for our volunteers and contribute to a cause larger than himself.

“We have great people and great volunteers at all levels who are willing to serve,” says McGeath, emphasizing the volunteers' collective spirit of generosity.

McGeath says this trip, which was his first international mission trip, gave him a renewed sense of commitment.

“I felt like someone gave me an adrenaline shot," says McGeath. “Seeing the kids at the clinic and the impact we have on their health outcomes has given me a clearer focus on what we’re doing at the Foundation. I can’t go backwards now.”

McGeath is quick to direct attention to the volunteers and the work they do. Volunteers provide assessments on medical equipment, enable life-changing surgeries, and support hospital management to reach their full potential to help more people.

While on the trip, McGeath witnessed the impact of the volunteers at our medical mission-site partners.

“Seeing the big picture of how our volunteers support the hospitals and fit into the ecosystem encapsulated this effort as a collaborative endeavor, regardless of if the volunteer is providing administrative or biomedical technical support," says McGeath. 4.22 Conxion (2)

As the TRIMEDX Foundation continues in its twentieth year, McGeath has an optimistic, yet pragmatic, attitude on the future of the Foundation’s impact.

“There’s a lot to be done,” he says.

The mission of the Foundation is growing to include online training and additional services for our partners. Volunteers will also support hospital systems going from paper records to online systems.

McGeath shared advice for anyone considering volunteering or assuming leadership roles.

“You’ve got to have the passion to donate your time,” says McGeath.

He stresses the importance of commitment to mission and clarity of service. At the core of McGeath’s commitment to volunteerism is a personal conviction and an appreciation for those who dedicate their time and talents to something greater than themselves.
